Life was a kaleidoscope of excitement and joy, pain and sorrow

In three words, I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life. IT GOES ON!

Forever 21 February 25, 2009

Today is a special occasion for me as it is my birthday. As my birthday falls on a weekday this year, most of my friends are not free to celebrate with me. Some of them working, some of them studying and some of them back home for holiday. And actually I have lecture to attend today as well.

Well, I have a quiet celebration before I went to class. I stroll along the Orchard road, indulging among so many great books in Kinokuniya and bought myself a slice of cake. The cake taste good and cheap. Actually, the main reason I went to Orchard was to go into this particular shop in Orchard – Forever 21. It’s a boutique, something like M&G and Espirit. I made a point that I must visit this particular shop on the day of my birthday and buy something from this shop to keep as a souvenir. I mean Forever 21 sounds very meaningful to me. Anyway, I did went to Forever 21 today but I didn’t manage to buy anything because the things there are so darn expensive! A useless bracelet cost like $7.00. I rather have that $7.00 spend on food.

My real celebration start during the break time in lecture. Miss Weng bought a cake and hide it behind the classroom. When the lecturer said it’s break time, she took it out and put it in front of me. What choice do I have? Anyway, we have our usual lighting up the candles, posing for photos, classmates singing Happy Birthday song, making wishes, cutting cakes, distributing cakes to everyone, eating cakes and having a cream war with my classmate.

Actually, I am really touch by my classmates action. They made an effort to make this day wonderful and memorable for me. I’m really grateful to them. And they gave me an Adidas jacket as my birthday present. I am really lucky to know them all!

Well, I am officially 21 years old today! Being 21 years old feels kinda different. Its like you are suddenly transfering from a teenage year to adulthood. You have to really pay full responsibility for yourself as you no longer need your parents signature. Its on your own now. Anyway, 21 is a nice number for me. Of course, I won’t be forever 21, but I don’t mind being old as long as I live my life fully without any regrets!

Specially for Yeah Se jie jie~ February 24, 2009

Yeah… this post is specially for Yeah Se jie jie!!! I would like to wish you a very Happy 21st Birthday!!! Since you are in US, which is so far from here, so I guess I can only give you my presents through my blog. Hope you like it!

I knew you always like Yan Zi jie jie very much. And do you know that Yan Zi jie jie was in an advertisement advertising some sort of rice? The advertisement was all over in Singapore! Since it’s your birthday today, I purposely snap a few pictures of the advertisements for you to view in my blog!

Hope you like it! Actually, it was not an easy job. The advertisement was put next to the bus-stop and highway. Imagine. You stood in front of the advertisement with your camera phone and started taking pictures of the advertisement with so many people looking at you and so many cars with drivers and passengers in it passing by. So, actually it was quite embarrassing. Of course, I don’t mind being treated as a lunatic as long as I manage to snap a few pictures for my dear friend sake. :)

By the way, for everyone’s information, I call this friend of mine “jie jie” because she is older than me by just one day. I have been calling her “jie jie” since secondary school, and she will always call me Tse Ling mei mei. So, it’s like a secret name between us. :)

Anyway, I hope you like my present, Yeah Se jie jie! Happy Birthday once again!!!

P/S: I hope I won’t get sue by the Singapore government for taking pictures of their public advertisement… Or perhaps get sue by the advertisement company for plagiarism…

You’ll always be a small child in your parents heart February 23, 2009

Actually I wanted to update my blog during the past weekend but due to some unavoidable circumtances, I can’t update it. My blog, I mean. You see. I was back to my Malaysia’s home during the weekend and I brought my laptop home too because I knew my brother will never let me use my home’s PC as he’ll dominate it, no matter how I beg him to let me use it.

Anyway, my point is… the Malaysia streamyx is so freakingly slow!!! My house have been using streamyx for dunno how many years and the stupid streamyx is always causing problem to us. Yeah, sometimes its fast. However, it sure will choose the most appropriate time to be slow! Streamyx is suppose to be the fastest line! Mind you, the Singapore PUBLIC wireless is even much faster than the stupid streamyx. And its P-U-B-L-I-C!!!

Don’t worry. I’m not going to complain about the stupid streamyx in this whole post. I want to share this particular conversation that I overheard this morning when I was travelling back to Singapore.

I was sitting comfortably in my seat, waiting for the KKKL bus to start its journey to Johor Bahru. Then, there is this young guy came into the bus. I guess he is in his early 20s. Big eye, very fair skin, thick black hair, approximately 175cm tall and wearing a shocking-red T-shirt.

After he put his bag in his seat, he went to the door and stand at the steps there. I was wondering what on earth is he doing standing there when I heard a very high-pitch and loud voice. Actually, this unique voice belongs to his mom and I found that the conversation between his mom and him is very funny, but very lovely too.

Mom: Son, have you taken your medicine?

Son: No, mom.

Mom: Then you better don’t take the medicine in the bus in case you fall asleep and the bus driver will drive you to some sort of unknown place. You must not sleep all the way, if not, you’ll miss your stop!

Son: Yeah… yeah… I know.

Mom: Remember, don’t take the medicine in the bus. Take the medicine only after you reach your destination!

Son: Yes, mom.

Mom: Then I’ll go first. Remember, don’t sleep in the bus!

Son: Yes, mom. Be careful on the road!

After a constant reminder of about a million times of “Don’t take medicine in the bus”, “Don’t sleep in the bus” and “Don’t forget to get down from the bus when you reach your destination”, the mom finally left. And guess what. The young guy really listen to his mom. I mean, really really listen to her. I doubt he even blink his eye during the whole journey, let alone sleep. What an obedient son…

I guess evey parent in this entire world is the same. They will constantly worry about their children, no matter you are in your 20s, 30s, 40s or even older. This shows the greatest love of all indeed!

On Valentine’s Day February 13, 2009

Since Valentine’s day is coming soon, which is practically tomorrow, I’m going to share a touching story with everyone.

An old man got on a bus one 14th February, carrying a dozen roses. He sat beside a young man. The young man looked at the roses and said, “Somebody’s going to get a beautiful Valentine’s Day gift.”

“Yes,” said the old man.

A few minutes went by and the old man noticed that his young companion was staring at the roses. “Do you have a girlfriend?” the old man asked.

“I do,” said the young man. “I’m going to see her right now, and I’m going to give her this Valentine’s Day card.”

They rode in silence for another ten minutes, and then the old man got up to get off the bus. As he stepped out into the aisle, he suddenly placed the roses on the young man’s lap and said, “I think my wife would want you to have these. I’ll tell her that I gave them to you.”

He left the bus quickly. As the bus pulled away, the young man turned to see the old man enter the gates of a cemetery.

This might be a simple story, but it is no doubt a warm-hearted story. :) I’ll be at K.L. this year Valentine’s day because my cousin is getting marry on the day after Valentine’s day. So, I’m there to attend her wedding. Although I didn’t celebrate Valentine’s day, I still want to wish those who are celebrating it, a very Happy Valentine’s Day!

Your “Real Sign” February 4, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — tseling @ 8:50 am

According to one of the Reader Digest’s article that I read last year, it states that your astrological sign may not be what you think it is. It says that your zodiac sign corresponds to the position of the sun relative to constellations as they appeared over 22000 years ago! Which of course I don’t have any idea what it is talking about.

Anyway, what I find interesting is that my zodiac sign is totally different from that one that I always thought I am. And if you are born between November 29 and December 17, your sign is actually one you never saw in the newspaper: you are an Ophiuchus!

Have a look at this:

Capricorn – Jan 20 to Feb 16
Aquarius – Feb 16 to Mar 11
Pisces – Mar 11 to Apr 18
Aries – Apr 18 to May 13
Taurus – May 13 to Jun 21
Gemini – Jun 21 to Jul 20
Cancer – Jul 20 to Aug 10
Leo – Aug 10 to Sep 16
Virgo – Sep 16 to Oct 30
Libra – Oct 30 to Nov 23
Scorpius – Nov 23 to Nov 29
Ophiuchus – Nov 29 to Dec 17
Sagittarius – Dec 17 to Jan 20

Fascinating, right?  I always thought I am a Pisces but somehow this new find-out says that I am an Aquarius! Icredible! By the way, if you want to have a look what the sky looked like on your birthday, just go to this website: http://www.livescience.com/widgets/birthday.html However, you have to know the date, time and place of birth to find out your true astrological sign and see what the sky looked like when you were born. The problem is, the map that they provided is America, which I highly doubt is the same sky as in Malaysia’s sky…
